It was a pleasure to meet with 14 pastors from the National Baptist Church of Southern Africa. we were grateful for the opportunity to share about the Peace Center’s vision and mission, and to speak about the main elements of reconciliation, including forgiveness, justice, remembrance, and embrace. We had a difficult but important discussion about the Church’s challenging role in healing post-apartheid, as well as the challenges of establishing a foundation for social reconciliation after severe oppression. Finally, we reaffirmed our belief that, by trusting in God and following his guidance, we allow him to work through us to accomplish great things. Even in situations of oppression, we all have the ability to act creatively and make a difference through our words, actions, and attitudes, no matter how small it may seem.
