We offered two lectures to a group of ministers from Canada and the United States. The first lecture was about the power of church liturgy in promoting and supporting peace processes and social change. We discussed how liturgy, which reflects our communal identity, has the ability to transform both ourselves and the wider social structure by shaping cultural values that prompt reconciliation. To become agents of peace we need to grow in our individual, ecclesial, and communal identities as peacemakers, and rituals are an essential part of this process. During the second lecture, we examined the topic of reconciliation from a Middle Eastern Christian perspective. We engaged in an insightful conversation comparing reconciliation from both Western and Middle Eastern Christian viewpoints.
